Quieting the Noise: The Importance of Slowing Down

The days can move so quickly that life begins to pass us by and we get caught up in the flow. We take in so much information and ‘noise’ everyday! From billboards, to emails, to social media, to music, to the many of streaming apps. We are literally drowning in a sea of information, sounds, colors and images that we hardly have a chance to process. In these times I am shifting my awareness to be more intentional about SLOWING DOWN.

I myself got to a point of speeding up youtube videos, multitasking by trying to listen to an audiobook while getting ready in the morning, always having music playing, and every free moment being filled with a social media feed scroll. It became a routine.

I am embracing slowing down and being more present. Allowing myself to fully take in everything around me-what im learning, the things I feel, the sentiments shared. As i invite slowness and quiet into my life, I notice a greater sense of calm and presence within myself and throughout my days. A lessened sense of urgency to do, and allowance to just be.

There’s something beautiful about the joy of slow mornings-snuggling my cat in bed, reading a book, stretching my body and having a hot cup of tea. This is what dreams are made of. Welcoming “boredom” as it is actually an invitation to reset and reconnect with myself. Its the small, quiet moments- noticing my chest rise as as I breathe, feeling my own heartbeat, even hearing the faint buzz in my ear-reminds me I'm alive. That I am at home, simply within myself.

So, if you find yourself racing through life, caught up in the noise and constant movement, I invite you to slow down too. Take a breath. Allow space for quiet. Notice the small things. It’s in these moments that you’ll find peace, and more importantly, you’ll find yourself.
